How much do wedding cakes cost? and other burning questions most couples ask about wedding cakes

As a wedding photographer, I look forward to photographing the couple's wedding cake - outside of the loving couple, of course! The wedding cake usually is the most ornate showcase piece that everyone flocks towards. The unveiling of the wedding cake, I believe, is a fun moment at most wedding receptions. When it is wheeled out, everyone whips out their phones and make it the next most photographed item on the wedding day other than the main couple. As a lover of cake myself, I will admit that my heart is often saddened when couples choose to go with a donut wall or other desserts other than a wedding cake. Wedding cakes are unique and just quite frankly amazing.

One of the great things or one of the main things that couples want to know is how much do wedding cakes cost? I discovered I feel working in the wedding industry for as long as I have. Still, a cake's price can vary based on many different factors, but here are a few essential tips or guidelines to consider.

1. Cake pricing can cost anywhere from $3 to $30 a slice.

2. The more tiers you have, the more guests you'll be able to feed, so the average four-tier wedding cake can feed 175 people comfortably.

3. All those beautiful cakes that you see on Pinterest and an Instagram that have that smooth covering are usually fondant cakes, which look great but are not as tasty as buttercream cakes.

4. Real Flowers might end up costing you less than frosted Flowers.

5. This wedding photographer loves wedding cake, so if you save a slice for your vendor, you will get bonus points in our books.

Here are some of my favorite cakes that I photographed in 2020. Believe it or not, even though the world came to a screeching halt, I was able to photograph 13 weddings, and while most were micro-weddings, there were still cakes! which one is your favorite?

I look forward to photographing your wedding cake!
